I lead a programme on improving the governance and equity of area-based conservation with particular emphasis on shifting the balance of power/authority to Indigenous People and Local Communities. We do this through supporting the use of tools - in particular the SAGE tool - that stakeholders at a site can use to assess the quality of the governance of the area and the balance of power between different stakeholders and rightsholders and plan and implement actions to improve the situation.
