Mark Gerrard
I come from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, with studies in Wildlife Science and Agribusiness, and an MBA from ALUSB in Rwanda. I have focused my professional energy on determining methods to fund the expansion of conservation areas by using the unique value of African wildlife and landscapes as a means to generate economic activity for rural areas, ensuring relevance of wildlife to the adjacent communities. I am currently the Africa Director for Conservation Strategy Fund, an organisation that uses economics to determine the value of nature and the socio-economic impact of development activities to conserve nature and biodiversity and improve human well-being. I currently sit as the Chair of the IUCN’s South African National Committee.
