Walter Odokorwot
I am working for Umoja Wildlife Conservancies of Uganda as Chief Executive Officer. Umoja was registered in 2021 as not for profit company limited by guarantee and currently has 18 member conservancies across the country, twelve of which are directly managed by communities, three by groups of landowners, and the other three managed privately. My work as CEO is to develop capacity of conservancy staff, link conservancy with other organizations with similar goals and conduct conservation awareness in the community. My professional interest is community participation in management of wildlife outside protected areas. Accomplishment I would like to share is the successful establishment of community conservation from the scratch.
