Fred Obiya Mbai
Fred Obiya Mbai works for Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) as a Senior Fundraising and Partnerships Officer. Fred joined NRT in January 2012 as a Regional Coordinator for Greater Sera region cluster of conservancies. Prior to joining the NRT Fundraising team in 2019, Fred worked for NRT as the Regional Director for NRT-Centre cluster of conservancies up to 2017 and Regional Director for NRT-West cluster of conservancies up to 2019 a role that revolved around providing general oversight across the NRT partner conservancies within the clusters.
Fred’s pre conservation background is in the corporate sector where he worked for British American Tobacco (BAT), a tobacco growing and cigarette manufacturing company’s finance department for 7years then worked in the same company as an administration manager for their leaf growing areas for 5 years. A graduate in Business management, Fred has a wealth of experience in community engagement having worked with the farming and livestock keeping communities for well over 10 years.
He has a deep passion for conservation and community development.
